Asset Manager in Studio
Upload custom outfits in Studio and make them available in your apps.
Asset Manager in Ready Player Me Studio allows Ready Player Me partners to upload, validate, publish, and manage custom outfits for avatars within the Studio dashboard in a self-serve manner.
Asset Manager is currently in the Open Beta stage. During this time, you might experience unexpected bugs. In such cases, please submit your feedback here: https://support.readyplayer.me/kb-tickets/new
Benefits
Personalize the user experience by uploading custom assets.
Validate custom assets automatically upon upload.
Enable or disable custom assets in your applications.
Can be used by anyone on the team. No coding skills required.
Features
Model upload
Only GLB (.glb) files are accepted.
File size: up to 10MB.
Model type
Uploaded model has to be based on a full-body template.
Note: Full-body does not include headgear such as hats or glasses.
Downlod the full-body templates to create custom outfits.
See Create Custom Outfits for a detailed guide and specifications for creating full-body avatars.
Validation
Upon upload, your model is automatically validated to check the asset for errors.
Recommendation: Use the Ready Player Me Blender plugin to verify your model during the creation process and before uploading.
Note: You can use any 3D asset creation tool as long as it can output GLB files. We recommend Blender because we provide a validation plugin that you can use to ensure your custom outfit will pass validation when you upload it in Studio.
Model preview
Display of the uploaded model.
Gender
Choose whether the uploaded model is for male or female avatar models. If you want to make the same outfit available for both male and female avatars, you need to upload them separately.
Preview icon
Upload an icon of your asset that will be displayed in the outfit list of the avatar editor.
Max icon dimensions: 256x256 pixels.
File size: up to 5MB. We recommend a small icon (< 1MB) to improve UI download speed for users.
Assign to application
To make an asset available to users, assign it to one or more of your applications.
If you do not assign the asset to an application, you can save it, but it will not be available to your users.
Edit uploaded assets
Saved custom assets can be edited by removing the current model or icon and uploading a different one.
Important: Editing existing assets will immediately affect users that use them. For example, if a user has your custom asset equipped, it will be changed once you edit it.

Steps for uploading and managing custom outfits
Go to Ready Player Me Studio and login.
In the side navigation, click Asset Manager.
Click Add new asset.
Fill in the information on the Add new asset screen, as described below.
Asset name: Name of the asset.
Gender: Select male or female. If your outfit fits both models, you need to create an asset for each.
Model: Upload a .glb file (< 10MB) of the custom outfit.
Preview icon: Upload a square-shaped icon (< 5MB, 256x256 max) that will be displayed as a preview of your outfit in the avatar editor, as shown below.
Applications: List of your applications. Check an application to make your outfit available to users of this application.
If you don't select an application, the outfit is saved, but it won't be available to users.
Add or Save button: The new or edited asset is validated and saved.
If validation fails, you receive a notification, and a pink outline marks the asset preview. Below the asset preview (you may need to scroll), click Validation log to open a JSON file of your errors. See Error handling for details.
If validation is successful, you receive a “Validation successful” notification and the uploaded model preview is displayed.
Once you have saved your new asset, you are returned to the Asset Manager page.
