Try Me! for Unity

Create an avatar and add it to a Scene in Unity.
Take less than 15 minutes to download the SDK for Unity and import an avatar into a Unity Scene.

What you need

  • Make sure you have Unity 2019.4.11f1 LTS or later available.
  • You need an avatar URL. If you don't have an avatar and an avatar URL, create one now at Try Me! Create an Avatar.

Bring your Avatar into Unity

  1. 1.
    Download the latest Ready Player Me Unity SDK as a Unity package.

    • The filename is similar to Ready Player Me_v1.9.0.unitypackage.
  2. 2.
    Create a Unity project using 2019.4.11f1 LTS or later.
  3. 3.
    Check whether the Newtonsoft Json package is installed in your project (commonly under Packages).
  4. 4.
    Select Assets > Import Package > Custom Package to import your downloaded Ready Player Me package.
  5. 5.
    If the Newtonsoft Json package is already installed in your project, uncheck it in the package import dialog.
  6. 6.
    Click Import.
  7. 7.
    The Avatar Loader opens when import is complete.
  8. 8.
    Find the Avatar Url or Short Code box below the banner.
  9. 9.
    Paste your saved avatar URL.
  10. 10.
    Click Load Avatar. Your avatar loads.
  11. 11.
    If necessary, adjust the Scene.
    • If the avatar looks pixelated, slide Scale to 1.
    • Adjust the camera in the Scene, for example, move it closer to the avatar.
    • Turn off Scene Lighting.
    • Optionally, rotate the avatar.

    Run your game. You should see your avatar performing an animation and an overlay displaying runtime data.
